15.05.2023 Now available on LCA-Online: Life cycle assessment for the Sustainable Building quality seal.
In the online tool www.lca-online.com the requirements and accounting rules for life cycle assessment for the QNG certificate are now integrated. The preparation of a life cycle assessment is one of the special requirements of the QNG and must be prepared using a recognized assessment system in addition to fulfilling the general requirements as part of certification.
For residential buildings specific benchmarks for greenhouse gas emissions in the life cycle and primary energy (non-renewable) were defined for the QNG-PLUS and QNG-PREMIUM awards.
For non-residential buildings the benchmarks for greenhouse gas emissions in the life cycle and primary energy (non-renewable) are determined on a project-specific basis and are made up of a building-related and an operation-related component.
In addition, the following information on building materials, components and systems must be taken into account for residential and non-residential buildings:
- Information on the production phase (provision of raw materials, transportation, production),
- Replacement of components in the utilization phase,
- Waste treatment/disposal,
- Recycling potential.
Only the calculated values for building materials, components and systems in accordance with the current version of the QNG balancing rules are used as the data basis for balancing in accordance with QNG. On the QNG portal www.qng.info the Life Cycle Assessment – Calculated Values 2023 table is publicly available free of charge.
The LCA online tool calculates the life cycle assessment directly according to the QNG specifications and takes the QNG assessment rules into account. The building materials included in the balance are evaluated according to the required life cycle phases and environmental impact categories. The result of the life cycle assessment is clearly displayed in the desired environmental impact categories via a balance sheet view.
